WENKA

Loss of coolant accident (LOCA)
The WENKA-Test facility has been designed to study the countercurrent flow in the hot legs of a LWR, that is found during the injection of water by the emergency core cooling system because of insufficient core coolability in an accident.

COSMOS-L

Critical-heat-flux On Smooth and MOdified Surfaces
The water-steam test loop is used to study the microscopic processes at modified surface structures during convection boiling near critical heat flux (CHF).

COSMOS-H

The thermohydraulic test facility COSMOS-H serves for the investigation of heat transfer- and flow phenomena under prototypical conditions up to 17 MPa. The experimental facility is operating with liquid water and steam. Due to a high degree of instrumentation experiments for CFD code development and validation are possible.
